The FIA Westpac Food and Beverages Awards – a fantastic success for the WA industry!

Over 450 industry representatives and their guests celebrated the outstanding achievements of our industry in a gala event, opened by the Hon Terry Redman, Minister for Agriculture and Food, at the Astral Ballroom at the Burswood Entertainment Complex on Friday 4 September.

In addition to the major sponsor Westpac, this year’s Food and Beverage Industry award categories were proudly sponsored by IGA, Rabobank, Australia Post, Alinta, Burswood, the Society of Supply Chain Professionals, the National Credit Insurance (Brokers) Pty Ltd and the Department of Agriculture and Food. 

The FIA had been overwhelmed by the number of companies which nominated for these major industry awards in eight distinct categories. Close to 100 entries from almost 50 companies operating in WA ranging from large multinationals to regional companies supplying niche products and services were received. 

The nominations demonstrated the industry’s increasing integration from farm to market and its ability to innovate and compete on a national and international level.

The achievements of these companies is indicative of just what our WA industry can offer to consumers and the WA community, and the importance of creating value beyond the farm gate. The FIA is delighted with the success of the awards program which will be held annually.

In 2010 the event will be held in June and 2011 in March to coincide with Perth’s major industry trade show Fine Foods and Hospitality Perth held biannually.
